Affordable, independent aged care for Toodyay

Following the gifting of Butterly Cottages to the local community, an affordable independent living centre for ageing residents of Toodyay was born. Now almost 40 years on, Butterly Cottages provides 12 independent living units that allow locals to continue to be involved in the community they love so much.

Butterly Cottages began their relationship with the Toodyay Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank when it opened 16 years ago. Looking for a specialist product that would suit the needs of Butterly Cottages, the team at the Toodyay branch engaged the services of the bank’s not-for-profit specialist, Community Sector Banking.

Today, with the help of the local Toodyay Council, Homes West and a loan from Community Sector Banking, the committee of Butterly Cottages have been able to purchase more land and begin the construction of an additional 20 independent living units.

Margaret O’Sullivan, Butterly Cottage President said choosing Community Sector Banking as their banking partner was easy, “Community Sector Banking are in a league of their own. They provide a level of understanding and expertise of the not-for-profit sector that is not seen elsewhere.”
